Archiving Policy
The Asia Pacific Journal of Cancer Research (APJCR) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and usability of all published content. As part of this commitment, we have established an archiving policy that outlines our procedures for maintaining and securing the digital and print records of all articles published in the journal. This policy aligns with industry standards and best practices to safeguard our publications' academic and scientific integrity.
Digital Archiving
- Institutional Repositories: All articles published in APJCR are archived in institutional repositories. Authors are encouraged to deposit their final, published articles in their institutional repositories. This practice ensures that the research is accessible to the academic community, even in cases where the journal's website is temporarily unavailable.
- Third-Party Archiving Services and DOI: APJCR partners with recognized third-party archiving services such as CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, Portico, and CrossRef DOI. These services create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and institutions, ensuring that digital content remains accessible and intact over the long term. Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through CrossRef, providing a permanent and unique identifier that facilitates easy and reliable access to the content.
- Publisher's Digital Repository: ORDIENT Publishers maintains a secure digital repository where all APJCR content is stored. This repository is regularly backed up and managed according to industry standards to protect against data loss, corruption, or unauthorized access.
- Open Access Compliance: APJCR is an open-access journal; all articles are freely available on the journal's website. To enhance discoverability and ensure ongoing access, metadata for all published articles is deposited with fundamental indexing and abstracting databases. This includes, but is not limited to, PubMed Central, Scopus, Web of Science, and CrossRef.
Print Archiving
For institutions and individuals who require or prefer physical copies, APJCR also maintains an archive of all printed issues:
- Print Repository: ORDIENT Publishers maintains a secure print archive of all APJCR issues. These physical copies are stored in a climate-controlled environment to prevent deterioration and are available for reference upon request.
- Library Partnerships: APJCR collaborates with major academic libraries worldwide to ensure that print copies of the journal are available in library collections. These libraries serve as additional repositories, ensuring that the content is accessible to researchers even in the event of disrupting the publisher's operations.
Policy for Article Retraction and Removal
APJCR has a clearly defined policy for the retraction and removal of articles:
- Retraction: In cases where a published article is found to contain significant errors, data falsification, or ethical breaches, a retraction notice will be issued. The original article will remain accessible in the archive but will be marked as retracted, with an explanation provided for the retraction.
- Removal: In rare cases where an article violates legal rights (such as copyright infringement) or poses a significant risk (e.g., privacy violations or health risks), the article may be removed entirely. In such cases, a notice will be placed in the archive indicating the removal and the reasons for this action.
Access and Use
- Open Access: As an open-access journal, all content published in APJCR is available immediately upon publication. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles or use them for any other lawful purpose without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
- Long-Term Availability: APJCR is committed to ensuring that all published content remains accessible over the long term. If APJCR ceases publication, ORDIENT Publishers will ensure that the archives remain accessible through existing third-party archiving services or a designated successor publisher.
Policy Review
This Archiving Policy is subject to periodic review and may be updated to reflect technological changes, best practices, or organizational procedures. Any changes to this policy will be communicated through the journal's website and in official journal communications.
